Charles Barkley arrested on suspicion of DUI

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Charles Barkley was arrested on suspicion of drinking and driving early Wednesday.

An officer with a law enforcement task force that targets drunken driving saw the former NBA star run a stop sign around 1:30 a.m., said Gilbert police Lt. Eric Shuhandler.

Barkley declined to submit to a breath test but was given a blood test. The results weren’t immediately available.

After Barkley was processed, he was cited and released. He left in a cab, Shuhandler said.

Shuhandler said there was nothing remarkable about the 45-year-old Barkley’s arrest and that it is customary to release people after they’ve been arrested on suspicion of DUI.

“There was nothing unusual about how he was taken into custody,” Shuhandler said. “He was treated exactly like we treat anybody else.”

Barkley was arrested in Scottsdale’s Old Town area, one of the trendiest spots in the Phoenix metro area.

A television commentator for NBA games, the former Auburn player was inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame last month.

He played 16 NBA seasons for the Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets, and played on the 1992 and 1996 Olympic teams. Barkley was an 11-time NBA All-Star and league MVP in 1993.

Selected one the NBA’s 50 greatest players in 1996, he was inducted into the 2006 Basketball Hall of Fame.

Charles was partying with Michael Strahan at Dirty Pretty (Old Town Scottsdale), before he got popped. I’m so over that spot, to me its still Bar 74 and once 20 people arrive you are at capacity. O yeah, I heard they were all doing body shots of the gap in Strahan’s teeth !!

Porn Star Janine behind bars and not for a movie

The Associated Press EUGENE, Ore. — Adult film actress Janine M. James has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for failing to pay more than $200,000 in taxes to the Internal Revenue Service.

U.S. District Judge Thomas Coffin ruled Monday that James must report to prison March 10 and pay her outstanding taxes.

The 40-year-old pleaded guilty in August.

The U.S. Attorney’s office said the former Penthouse model spent more than $750,000 between 2000 and 2006 while failing to make any payments to the IRS.

James, also known as Janine Lindemulder, moved to Oregon after her marriage to TV motorcycle maker Jesse James ended.

Jesse James later married Sandra Bullock.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says Janine James’ current address is in Huntington Beach, Calif.

Now this has the makings of great reality TV!!

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen engaged

December 26th, 2008

Patriots QB Tom Brady proposed on Christmas eve to his supermodel girlfriend Gisele Bundchen and she accepted. The proposal took place aboard a private jet heading from New York to Boston. Gisele’s parents were on board the plane, that Brady had flooded with 4 dozen white roses and champagne .

Brady is a smart man, he knows to lock-down the supermodel while his stock is still high. Going into next season there will be questions about his health and maybe even who should be the starting QB. Lock her down now or risk dating the Tara Reid’s of the world…again. I wonder if Lucky Leo gets an invite ?

Diddy and Ciroc Vodka make Million dollar offer to change Time Square’s New Year’s Eve ball !!

December 25th, 2008

Mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and Ciroc Ultra Premium Vodka announced an ambitious, $1 million dollar charity offer for the city of New York to redesign the iconic New Year’s Eve ball. The bold offer is the latest example of the brand’s ubiquitous presence in New York’s Time Square. Just eight days before New Year’s Eve, the company has already decorated the area’s landscape with numerous billboards. If approved by New York City, Combs and Ciroc would alter the famous ball’s appearance to resemble the well-known blue stone emblem of Ciroc Vodka. Combs and Ciroc have promised that the full $1 million dollar donation would go to needy charities around the city.
“As the ‘Official Vodka of New Year’s Eve,’ it’s only fitting that we take over New York, the most iconic New Year’s city in the world,” Combs explained to AllHipHop. com.
“I’m going to give every adult in America a taste of what it’s like to enjoy a sophisticated celebration with Diddy, and what better time than while ringing in the New Year.

Leave it to Diddy to change the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball, to the Ciroc symbol. I can all ready see it, no more counting down from 10, when midnight hits the world will yell simultaneously “take that take take that”. I have to admit Ciroc vodka is the preferred drink of Miles Cyrus.

Mark Teixeira grew up idolizing Donny Baseball Don Mattingly now he follows in his footsteps

December 23rd, 2008

Mark Teixeira gets to don the Yankee pinstripes, having just agreed to a 8 year $180 million contract, believed to have a no trade clause. He also gets to follow in the footsteps of the player he idolized growing up, Yankees first baseman Don Mattingly. Teixeira grew up in Severena Park Maryland between Baltimore and Annapolis. He followed the Yankees as a kid and continued to admire the commitment they had to winning, even when he was on the Rangers. He had said several years ago, that if he didn’t get a long term deal , the Yankees and Orioles would be two top destinations. No word as of yet as to what number he will wear, or if number 23 (witch is retired) is a possibility. His signing makes him one of the top four highest paid players in baseball, he only needs to look around the clubhouse to see the other three : A-Rod, Jeter, and Sabathia.

Lions Find Possible Replacement QB For Next Year

Lions Find Possible Replacement QB For Next Year

December 22nd, 2008

The Detroit Lions released a statement Monday stating they would be interested in bringing in Muntadhar al-Zeidi, the shoe throwing assailant of President Bush, for a tryout for next seasons squad. Al-Zeidi’s trial on charges of assaulting a foreign leader is scheduled to begin Dec. 31 and a conviction would carry a sentence of up to two years in prison. The prime minister’s office said last week that al-Zeidi had written a letter of apology and asked al-Maliki to recommend a pardon. If pardoned, Lions owner William Clay Ford said he would look at al-Zeidi as possible competition to current QB Dan Orlovsky. “He had great form on his throw, and had a good release point, also his velocity was great, but his accuracy could use a little help,” Ford said when asked about al-Zeidi. When questions were raised about al-Zeidi’s size and ability to handle pressure, Ford said, “Look at the way he was able to get the second shoe thrown with security and Secret Service men in his face, and it took like 4 guys to take him down, that shows a lot of heart and determination.” This gives Lions fans something to look forward to, on the brink of the first ever, Defeated Season. Attenpts to reach al-Zeidi were unsuccessful as prision officials said he was, “tied up” and “unable to comment at this time.”

Moves like this are what make the Lions great. I think they may still have Matt Millen running things on the DL out there in Detroit. I hear this al-Zeidi guy is the Mike Vick of the Middle East…hope he gets a pardon, the Lions sure could use the help.

Cuttino Mobely retires from the Knicks becuase of weak heart

Cuttino Mobely retires from the Knicks because of weak heart …(for Steve Francis ???)

December 12th, 2008

above photo courtesy of mediatakeout.com

11 year NBA veteran Cuttino Mobley is retiring because of a heart condition that was found during his check up when he was traded to the New York Knicks. Mobley during 11 seasons averaged 16 points a game and was a sharpshooter from the 3 point line. Here are comments about Mobley from great buddy and former teammate Steve Francis : “I can’t put it into words. Playing with a guy, living with a guy, just knowing that every day when I wake up that’s something I can count on, that I’m going to be in practice or in a game with Cuttino. Him not being here is going to be tough for me. I don’t know what I’m going to wake up for.” In all fairness it must be said those comments are after Mobley got traded from the Houston Rockets but i think they paint a picture of what Mobley means to a team or at least Steve Francis.

I remember hearing about Cuttino Mobley’s place getting robbed back in 2006. He lost $500,000 in cash and some of Steve Francis’s jewlery. What is Stevie “Franchise’s” jewels doing at your apartment …. ?? In any case good luck to you in whatever life (lifestyle) you choose after basketball.

Trevor Pryce To T-Pain: So Easy A Caveman Could Do It!

Trevor Pryce To T-Pain: So Easy A Caveman Could Do It!

December 12th, 2008

Four-time Pro Bowl and 2-time All-Pro selection, and owner of the record label Outlook Music Co., Trevor Pryce has called out music mogul T-Pain live on the radio. While being interviewed on the popular sports radio show, The Jim Rome Show, Trevor Pryce was discussing how he was leaving the record industry to get into movies. Trevor Pryce said he was getting out of music because, “Any idiot with a keyboard and computer can make a T-Pain song”. Jim Rome was blown away by this statement, and repeated Pryce’s words multiple times. Pryce and T-Pain have a brief history of working together after, in 2007, Outlook Music artist Suave Smooth released a song featuring T-Pain. T-Pain was not available for comment.

Trevor Pryce is right…music isn’t about talent anymore…it’s about a tight beat and catchy hook. Look, if artists like Soulja Boy can make a million, pretty much anyone can. It’s about time someone called these artists out. One thing tho…T-Pain is the $hit and has been doing it for a minute…wonder how he is going to respond??

NFL week 15 Picks

NFL week 15 Picks

Take the KC Chiefs getting 6 points at home against the San Diego Chargers. It’s a division game and the Chargers though mathematically alive are pretty much out of playoff contention. CHIEFS + 6

Take the Miami Dolphins giving 6.5 at home against the San Francisco 49ers. It is rumored that Frank Gore did not make the team flight to Miami because of last weeks injury and that Deshaun Foster will start at running back. Miami is in a 3 way tie for the division and will need to keep pace. Parcels will have the Dolphins ready. DOLPHINS - 6.5

Take the Dallas Cowboys giving up 2.5 at home against the NY Giants. Yes the Cowboys are internally feuding but this is the make or break game for a Super Bowl run. Marion Barber is banged up for the Boy’s but the Giants are without CHEDDA BOB aka Plaxico Burress (as Miles Cyrus says) and Brandon Jacobs. Jerry Jones is betting on his Boys and you should too. COWBOYS - 2.5

The NY Jets Buffalo Bills game in NY is a tough line to call in my opinion. The odds makers have the Jets a 7.5 favorite. It is a division game and the Jets haven’t played too well as of late. If you want to make money on this game take the Jets, who must win to keep pace in the division race with the Dolphins and Patriots, with the money line winning the game straight up. It won’t pay as much but it will make you money!! Plus it’s not as risky a pick. JETS MONEY LINE TO WIN

.

On Monday night take the Philadelphia Eagles at home against the Cleavland Browns giving up 14. The Browns at this point might be the worst team in the NFL. Ken Dorsey is starting at QB and has yet to throw a touchdown this season. The Eagles defense will be ready in this one, blitzing Dorsey all night. Look for the Eagles to dominate and cover the 2 touchdown spread. EAGLES - 14

C.C. Sabathia becomes highest paid pitcher ever (He’s getting Arab money)

December 10th, 2008

It is reported that Vallejo Ca. native, C.C. Sabathia has all but agreed to a 7 year 161 million dollar deal from the New York Yankees. The deal will make C.C. the highest paid pitcher in baseball history at 23 million a year, surpassing the 20.5 million that the Mets gave to Johan Santana. HeyKobe.com got this exclusive from someone C.C. grew up with in Vallejo ” I know he wanted to be a Dodger, especially playing in pitcher friendly Dodger Stadium and staying in the National League because he likes to hit, with C-DUBB it isn’t about the money, he is one of the realeast most down to earth people I know, real humble too but when the Yankees make him the number 1 off season priority, seperate themselves with an offer no one can touch and he gets a chance to be the opening day starter in the new ballpark, I’m sure this is bigger than he could have imagined”

161 million reasons to play in NY !! Question, what do C.C. and Lebron have in common ? They both started in Cleveland and both will be in NY with the biggest contracts ever!! I keep hearing C.C. is from Vallejo Ca., isn’t that the first city in California to go bankrupt?? C.C. for mayor (and treasurer) of Vallejo!!

This Thursday Take Da Bears

This Thursday take the Chicago Bears - 3 against the Saints. No insider information on this one, just common sense. Both teams are 7-6 and fighting for a playoff birth, and an outside shot at the division title. The game is in Chicago where the Bears are

4-2 at home and the Saints are 1-5 on the road. What might be more of a determining factor is the Saints, a dome team will be playing in the mid to low 20’s !!! Take the Bears giving up the 3 points.
